Jodi Edwards Wins Trip to the Bahamas to Perform National Anthem at 2018 Weichert® Sellebration
FALMOUTH, Mass. / Dec. 3, 2018 – It was déjà vu for vocalist Jodi Edwards.
The Falmouth resident, who works at Weichert, Realtors® – Donahue Partners in Falmouth, found herself again on the winning end of a national singing competition hosted by Weichert®.
Last year’s victory earned Edwards a free trip to Las Vegas; this year’s win landed her in the Bahamas. Each trip came with the opportunity to perform the national anthem at the Weichert national convention, an event attended by hundreds of brokers, owners, managers and agents.
“The competition was much tougher this year with a free trip to the Bahamas on the line. Not to mention a chance to walk on stage and perform in front of a packed house at the Weichert national convention,” said Edwards, who earned a degree in vocal performance from Westfield State University. “I really didn’t think I would win the national anthem contest again this year.”
But her boss, Dennis Murphy, thought differently.
“Jody has an amazing voice,” said Murphy, the broker/owner of the Falmouth Weichert affiliate. “She also has an incredible stage presence. I would have been shocked if she didn’t win this singing competition again.”
Edwards beat out a talented field of singers from Weichert offices around the country to sing the national anthem at the 2018 Weichert Sellebration, held Oct. 6-8 at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas.
She credits her previous stage experience for the back-to-back win.
Edwards belted out the national anthem at her college graduation ceremony in 2010. She also sings with Stage Door Canteen, a legendary big band, is an avid member of the Falmouth Theatre Guild and performs with the Brazen Belles, a burlesque troupe that has won numerous awards.
“I just love singing on stage, whether as a soloist or with a group,” added Edwards. “Singing the national anthem again this year at the Weichert national convention gave me such a rush.”
