Jared Garcia of WEICHERT, REALTORS® – Performance Homes Returns to Lacrosse Field to Raise Funds for Wounded Veterans, Honor Fallen NYPD Officer

— Michele Watson

Jared Garcia (No. 37) was captain of the 2008 New York Institute of Technology national championship lacrosse team. Garcia is returning to a Long Island lacrosse field this summer to help raise funds for wounded veterans.

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. / June 19, 2017 – WEICHERT, REALTORS® – Performance Homes is honored to announce that Jared Garcia, the company’s manager and a former college lacrosse national champion, is returning to the playing field to help support wounded U.S. veterans. Garcia will be joined by former players at his old Long Island high school to participate in “Shootout for Veterans,” a 24-hour lacrosse tournament held annually across the country to raise funds for wounded veterans.
The former collegiate standout and his friends from Plainedge High School got involved with the event three years ago to help the country’s wounded veterans. The team also plays in the overnight fundraiser to honor fellow alum Brian Moore, a New York City police officer killed in the line of duty in 2015.
“Those who have served in the U.S. military – both here and abroad – to protect our country are truly heroes,” said Garcia, who manages the Weichert® affiliate office in Farmingdale. “These men and women not only deserve our utmost respect, they deserve a helping hand when in need.”
Garcia and his teammates will play in the 3rd Annual Brian Moore Memorial game at this year’s Shootout for Veterans event on Long Island, which takes place July 20-21 at the Town of Oyster Bay Field of Dreams. Proceeds from Shoot for Veterans benefit charities that support military veterans, such as the Gary Sinise Foundation, Semper Fi Fund, Army Ranger Lead the Way Fund and Team RWB.
“Playing in this tournament gives our team a way to say ‘thank you’ to our veterans for all that they’ve done,” Garcia added. “It also gives us a way to honor Brian and all that he did to help protect New York City. As a former lacrosse player, I know Brian would appreciate us using the game he loved to play to help others.”
