WABASHA, Minn. / Sept. 27, 2017 – Weichert, Realtors® – Jewson Properties is proud to announce that Jay Jewson has been named President of the Southeast Minnesota REALTORS (SEMR) board of directors. Jewson is the Broker/Owner of Weichert, Realtors® – Jewson Properties, an independently owned and operated Weichert® affiliate in Wabasha.
Jewson will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for the largest professional association of licensed real estate agents in Southeast Minnesota during his term as president, which runs through 2018. He has been a member of SEMR since 1996 and served on the association’s board of directors in several leadership positions, including treasurer and most recently, president-elect.
“I am truly honored to serve in this leadership position for our regional association’s board of directors,” said Jewson, who lives in Wabasha. “I’ve been fortunate to serve on SEMR’s board of directors for the past four years and have learned a great deal about the inner workings of our association. I look forward to continuing to work with other board members to help enhance the reputation and level of service provided by REALTORS in our region while serving as President.”
Jewson started taking real estate classes at 17 and buying property at 18. At 19, he found himself working as a full-time REALTOR in the family business. The next 18 years were spent learning everything that he could about the family business and what it takes to succeed in the highly competitive real estate industry.
Jewson and his wife, Bree, purchased the company in 2014. The couple joined the Weichert Real Estate Affiliates two years later to enhance their business and assist in regional growth.
“Jay’s business acumen and visionary thinking have served him well throughout his years in real estate,” said Karen Becker, the chief executive officer of SEMR. “We are excited to have him serve as our board president to help lead our association to new heights.”
