Rainy Day Not Enough To Keep Local REALTOR® From Pitching In To Help Build Hoop House

PAUL, Minn. / May 21, 2018 – Nick Krueger readily admits he’s more skilled at selling homes then he is at building them.
But that didn’t stop him from helping with the construction of a hoop house recently at the site of a non-profit group’s urban farm, located near Rivoli Bluff in St. Paul.
Krueger, an agent at Weichert, Realtors® – Advantage, spent a rain-soaked day assembling the structure’s frame, which he didn’t expect to be so massive.
“I thought this was going to be a small project, but it was much bigger than I expected it to be,” said Krueger, who lives in Eagan. “But I think that shows how much of a big deal this project is for Urban Roots.”

The unheated growing shelter, owned and operated by Urban Roots, uses sunlight to extend the growing season for fruits and vegetables. The produce, sold locally, offers area residents greater access to reasonably priced healthy foods.
“It was great to meet the folks at Urban Roots and learn more about what they’re doing to help the community, even though I got rained on the entire time I was out there,” Krueger jokingly added. “I definitely want to get more involved with volunteer events like this. It’s a great way to give back to the community.”
Krueger is also grateful for his local real estate association, the St. Paul Area Association of REALTORS, for connecting him with Urban Roots. The association partnered with the non-profit for the May 9 construction event.
