APEX, N.C. / July 19, 2018 – Rich Baumgarten and Philip Falzarano started the day with one goal and one goal only in mind on July 13: collect as much stuff as possible.
But what exactly were the two real estate agents at Weichert, Realtors® – Triangle, located in Raleigh and Cary, out to collect and why?
“Our goal was to collect as many personal hygiene products as possible and deliver them to the Durham Rescue Mission,” said Baumgarten. “And I think we did pretty well.”
Baumgarten’s take on the day’s effort is an understatement, according to Falzarano.
“I still can’t believe the tremendous outpouring of support we received from the community for our Neighbors Helping Neighbors toiletry drive,” Falzarano said. “I knew we could collect a decent amount of items, but nothing close to what we ended up collecting for the Durham Rescue Mission.”
Falzarano and Baumgarten canvassed the Holland Crossing and Miramonte sub-divisions in Apex, going door-to-door to ask for toothpaste, deodorant, toilet paper and other personal hygiene products, which were later dropped off at the Durham charity.
“Philip and I had a great time talking with folks in Holland Crossing and Miramonte, and we can’t thank them enough for their generosity,” added Baumgarten. “We’re definitely planning to make this an annual event.”
