Fletcher, N.C., Dec. 16, 2016 — The bitter Saturday morning cold forced a few people in Fletcher to break out the hats, gloves and scarves on Dec. 10. That’s to be expected when the temperature dips down to the low 20s.
But it wasn’t enough to keep people from coming out for the city’s annual Christmas parade this year – especially the mascot bear from WEICHERT, REALTORS® – Unlimited. He enjoys the cold. You could tell by all the fun he had while riding on the Weichert® affiliated agency’s float, which won Best Commercial Entry at the parade.
“We love being a part of Fletcher’s Christmas parade, it’s a great way to get people into the holiday spirit,” said Aaron Kraft, managing broker at WEICHERT, REALTORS® – Unlimited. “The parade also gives us a chance to thank the Fletcher community for its support and wish them all a happy holiday season. And the day got even better when we heard our float was named the best commercial entry this year.”
The winning float from Weichert was one of 48 entries in this year’s parade that began at Old Airport Road and ended a little more than a mile down the road at the Blue Sky Café. Float riders, including the Weichert mascot, tossed candy to the hundreds of young kids and adults that lined the streets to watch the parade, which is sponsored by the Fletcher Area Business Association. This year’s parade, themed “Christmas in Candy Land,” included musical groups, decorated floats, antique cars and the arrival of Santa on one of the city’s fire trucks.
