Weichert® affiliated real estate agents raise over $14,000 for local United Way Chapter
PLEASANT, Mich. / Nov. 29, 2017 – They put down their “For Sale” lawn signs, put on their dancing shoes and competed against 14 other teams at the Dance United fundraising event held Nov. 16 at Central Michigan University’s McGuirk Arena.
But Julie Rush and Adam Wheeler, the dancing real estate agents from Weichert, Realtors® – Broadway Realty in Mt. Pleasant, weren’t competing for best performance. Their goal was to raise the most money for the United Way of Gratiot and Isabella Counties at this year’s fundraising event, which they did.
Rush and Wheeler raised over $14,000 for the United Way, tops amongst the 15 teams that competed. This year’s fundraiser brought in more than $55,000, a record for the sixth year event.
“Adam and I had a blast at this year’s Dance United fundraising event,” said Rush, an associate broker at the Weichert® affiliate who lives in Mt. Pleasant. “We were also excited to raise as much money as we did for the United Way this year.”
After making the decision to participate, Rush and Wheeler began working on their rendition of the Coco Bongo dance scene from the 1994 hit movie, The Mask.
“Our dance coach was right when he said there was a lot more to this then just watching that hilarious dance scene from the movie,” added Wheeler, of Mt. Pleasant, who wore a green mask and yellow zoot suit to resemble the movie’s lead character played by Jim Carrey. “The hours of training were definitely worth it, though. And I’d definitely do it again to help the United Way.”
