Wendy Williams of Weichert, Realtors® – Centennial helps kids look their best

Wendy Williams (on right) gets ready to do some personal shopping with one of the Norman middle school students she was matched with through Operation School Bell program.

NORMAN, Okla. / Oct. 26, 2018 – Wendy Williams has done her fair share of clothes shopping for kids, a parental chore that many dread doing.
But not Williams, the mother of a 17-year-old and 10-year-old twins.
“Clothes shopping for kids is one of my favorite things to do,” said Williams, a Norman resident and real estate agent at Weichert, Realtors® – Centennial in the city.
That partly explains Williams’ passion for Operation School Bell, a charitable program run by the National Assistance League’s Norman chapter. The program connects students from Norman and Little Axe public schools with volunteers like Williams for a one-on-one personal shopper experience.
“This program has such a positive impact on the lives of kids here in Norman and Little Axe,” added Williams, who has volunteered at Operation School Bell as a personal shopper since 2013. “It brings out more than a smile when I’m done picking out shirts, jeans, shoes and other garments for them.”
Williams helps kids shop for new clothes at local retailers like Kohl’s. The items are purchased by Operation School Bell, which expects to serve more than 2,000 Norman and Little Axe students this year that will be referred to the program by school teachers and counselors.
Operation School Bell also accepts gently used children’s clothing and personal donations to help purchase new clothing.
Funding for Operation School Bell also comes from the group’s Holiday Home Tour campaign. The annual fundraiser features homes that are lavishly decorated for the holiday season and open to the public for tours.
“Sponsoring the Holiday Home Tour campaign is another way the community can support this amazing organization,” said Williams, who is trying to convince the company that she works at to do just that. “I believe it’s a perfect match for a real estate company like Weichert, Realtors® – Centennial.”
