PURCELL, Okla. / Aug. 28, 2020 – Trent Mitchell, broker for the new Purcell office of Weichert Realtors® – Centennial, was recently elected President of the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce. The organization serves the communities of Purcell, Lexington, Goldsby, Washington, and Wayne from its headquarters in Purcell.
Mitchell brings more than three years of experience with the chamber to his new position, first as a member serving on a variety of committees; then on the executive board, serving first as vice president and then president elect. Mitchell was sworn in as president on July 1.
During his tenure, Mitchell says he wants to ensure that all five member communities in the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce are involved in the decision-making process about what changes would benefit them the most. “I think that together we can not only come up with some exciting revenue generating ideas; we can also brainstorm on how to attract more members to the organization,” said Mitchell.
A 2008 graduate of Lexington High School, Mitchell worked fulltime as a firefighter for more than ten years and is still a volunteer firefighter with the Purcell Fire Department. An interest in real estate investment property inspired him to obtain first his real estate agent’s license and later his broker’s license. Now, as broker for the Weichert Realtors® – Centennial Purcell office, he specializes in buying and selling rural properties, including farms, ranches, and farmland. He remains active in the first responder community, working part time for Wadley’s EMS.
“I believe that the Chamber of Commerce has tremendous potential to make a real, positive difference in our member communities,” said Mitchell. “We have made some great progress here in Purcell with the proposed lodging tax that is pending voter approval. We need those kinds of new ideas to generate revenue for our towns, which in turn will provide the funds we need to make more changes. I’m excited for the possibilities.”
